Side Piece Bar Brings Billiards And Boilermakers To San Diego's Clairemont

August 27, 2023

Side Piece is a new 21+ bar now open in San Diego's Clairemont neighborhood, offering a menu of boilermakers and snacks to enjoy while playing billiards and darts.

From Paul Fatta (who runs Bayside Landing in Crown Point), Jeffrey Kiyama (who was a longtime manager at downtown's Barleymash), and Eddie Okino (who long operated Turquoise Cellars & Coffee), Side Piece Bar is a sister-concept meant to compliment neighboring Bayhill Tavern. In the last few years, the group of restaurateurs has teamed up for the opening of other San Diego neighborhood haunts including Second Nature in Pacific Beach and Working Class in North Park.

Side Piece occupies a former Money Tree space adjacent to Bayhill Tavern. The bar offers an approachable craft cocktail list, a small food menu and a couple wines on draft. Their draft list of 8 taps consists of light beers, hoppy beers, hazy beers and hard kombucha. The bar also features a selection of "Side Pieces" for $10, which are boilermakers consisting of a beer and a shot. The space also has a pool table, dart board, a juke box, and frequent karaoke, as well as plays UFC fights and other top sporting events.

Side Piece is now open at 3010 Clairemont Drive, Suite A, in San Diego's Clairemont neighborhood. For more information, visit bemysidepiece.com
