No kink shaming here, but we thought it imperative to share when we came across the website for 94th BDSM Social. The website lists the club's management only as "Miss Annie & kitten jen." The group, which was founded in 1997, meets every third Wednesday of the month, from 6-9pm, on the back patio of San Diego's 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant. It is a free event open to anyone 21-and-over that is "interested in the kink community." Each month, the club hosts a fundraising raffle and drawing with a table full of prizes.
As described by Wikipedia, "BDSM is a variety of often erotic practices or roleplaying involving bondage, discipline, dominance and submission, sadomasochism, and other related interpersonal dynamics." Activities and relationships in BDSM are often characterized by the participants' taking on roles that are complementary and involve inequality of power, usually one party being the submissive and the other the dominant.
World War II Army vet and restaurateur David Tallichet opened 94th Aero Squadron restaurant in San Diego in 1976 as a third location of the original, which was founded in the Van Nuys area of Los Angeles in 1973. Named after one of the first American fighter squadrons to see combat service in the First World War, the classic American restaurant sits inside a replica WWI French farmhouse that overlooks Mongomery Field Airport in San Diego's Kearny Mesa. The San Diego branch has been sold three times since it opened, once in 1997, again in May 2018, and most recently in early 2022. There are still locations of 94th Aero Squadron restaurant in Miami, FL, and Columbus, OH.
