Los Angeles' TikTok-famous The Red Chickz Nashville hot chicken chain will soon open its first of several San Diego locations.
The Red Chickz was founded in downtown Los Angeles in 2018 by Shawn Lalehzarian, an Iranian immigrant who learned English by working in many different roles in the restaurant industry for well-known brands like Wolfgang Puck, Starbucks, Pinkberry, California Pizza Kitchen, and Chili’s. The Red Chickz has earned an impressive social media following over its short tenure, including amassing over 1 million followers on TikTok alone.
After announcing a franchising plan in 2021, the company has since signed 18 units to open in the coming year with more than a dozen deals in the pipeline in Houston, Texas, as well as densely-populated areas in California such as Los Angeles, San Diego, Long Beach, Fresno, and Orange County. The company is looking for spaces to open in San Diego with its first area location set to open soon in the space that last housed Pluck U within The Shoppes at Carlsbad.
The Red Chickz has plans to open at least three branches in San Diego under the leadership of franchisee Mattie Shlemon. Like other Nashville hot chicken chains, expect a menu of fried chicken tenders and sandwiches at varying spice levels, as well as fried shrimp, tacos, bone-in chicken and waffles, chicken & French Toast, and even vegetarian dishes with cauliflower.
The Red Chickz will grand open its first San Diego location on December 2 at 2525 El Camino Real, Suite 217, in Carlsbad. For more information, visit theredchickz.com and check out the menu below.
