Los Angeles' Iconic Randy's Donuts Bringing Second San Diego Location To South Bay

February 18, 2024

Los Angeles' iconic Randy's Donuts will open its second area location in San Diego's South Bay.

Founded in 1952 and best known for its 33-foot giant donut sculpture on the roof of its original location, Randy's Donuts has a local franchise development deal with San Diego native Emilio Tamez that includes 10 stores to open around San Diego County in the coming years. Tamez also owns and operates Taqueria Revolución and is the founder of Sadie's Hand-Crafted Ice Cream in Chula Vista's Bonita area. Mark Kelegian, a Los Angeles-area entrepreneur and former attorney, purchased Randy's in 2015 to franchise the concept with his family. Randy’s Donuts began franchising domestically in summer of 2019.

The first San Diego location of Randy's Donuts opened last May within Stonecrest Plaza in Kearny Mesa. The second area branch will install in the space that currently houses Sadie's Hand-Crafted Ice Cream in the Bonita area of Chula Vista. Like other branches, customers will find over 60 different varieties of donuts along with Randy’s Rounds (Randy’s Donuts much larger version of a donut hole) and more, as well as a large selection of coffee drinks. The new San Diego locations will also sell Sadie's Handcrafted Mexican Ice Cream and Sadie's Sandwiches, which is a fresh Randy's donut stuffed with ice cream.

Randy's Donuts is expected to open in late April at 3001 Bonita Road, Suite 200, in San Diego's South Bay city of Chula Vista. For more information, visit randysdonuts.com.
