Vega Caffe Mexican Deli Replacing Lolita’s At The Park In San Diego's East Village

March 6, 2024

South Bay's Vega Caffe Mexican Deli is opening a new location near Petco Park in the space that long housed Lolita's in San Diego's East Village.

Martha & Omar Vega opened the first Vega Caffe in San Diego's South County community of Otay Mesa in 2002. The couple eventually took over the neighboring space to launch a Mexican-American fusion deli, then expanded to a second branch in the Eastlake area of Chula Vista in 2008. Earlier this year, Vega Caffe ownership signed a lease to take over the Petco Park-adjacent space that housed a branch of Lolita's Mexican Food for 14 years before the restaurant closed last fall on the final day of the San Diego Padres 2023 season.

After remodeling the former Lolita at the Park space on the base floor of the Park Terrace Condominiums right outside San Diego Padres Petco Park, Vega Caffe Mexican Deli will open in mid-March. Like the other two locations, the East Village outpost will offer a menu of sandwiches, salads, tortas, tacos, burritos, salads, soups, bagels, smoothies and fresh juices, as well as rotating specials.

Vega Caffe Mexican Deli will open the week of March 11 at 202 Park Boulevard in downtown San Diego's East Village. For more information, visit ordervegacaffesandiego.com
