Grab & Go Subs Making Triumphant Return To San Diego's Little Italy

July 3, 2024

After closing its location in San Diego's Little Italy in 2018, Grab & Go Subs is making its triumphant return to the neighborhood.

Grab & Go Subs was founded in 1973 by native Sicilian Vincenzo “Mimmo” Gaglio. The company also operates Mimmo's restaurant in Little Italy and Hungry Lu's in Ocean Beach. In late 2018, Grab & Go Subs closed its location in San Diego's Little Italy after a 25 year run.

A seventh area branch of Grab & Go Subs will soon begin installing in the space that last housed a Starbucks on the corner of Hawthorne and India Streets nearly directly across from its previous home in Little Italy. Expect the new location to offer the same menu of hot and cold sandwiches as the other branches, including favorites like The Italian, Grilled Cheese Fet, Tunisia Sub, and the Po' Boy. There will also be a selection of wraps, salads, chips and soft drinks.

"Today we signed a 20 year lease to keep us in the neighborhood making some of the most scrumptious sandwiches known to mankind!", explained Grab & Go Brands CEO Julio Cesar Pantoja. "It's literally across the street from our original location that operated for 25 years, after the property sold in 2018 we had to relocate. We are truly excited to be back in our founding neighborhood of Little Italy."

Grab & Go Subs is expected to open this November at 801 West Hawthorn Street in San Diego's Little Italy. For more information, visit grabngosubs.com.
