Avenue Fish & Oyster Company is bringing more seafood to San Diego's Coronado island when it opens next year in the longtime Leroy's Kitchen space.
Coronado is set to welcome a new seafood destination with the arrival of Avenue Fish & Oyster Company, slated to open by January 2025. This new eatery will take over the space previously occupied by The Islander on Orange Avenue, which closed after a brief two-year run, and was once the home of Leroy's Kitchen & Lounge for a decade.
Led by seasoned San Diego chef Paul Arias, Avenue Fish & Oyster Company promises a menu focused on fresh seafood sourced from local vendors and oysters from around the globe. Chef Arias, whose culinary background includes notable positions at The Lodge at Torrey Pines, Catamaran Resort and was the founding chef at Pacific Beach's The Fishery, brings a wealth of experience to the kitchen. He will collaborate with Blue Bridge Hospitality's corporate chef Matt Sramek to craft dishes featuring seasonal ingredients and a range of seafood offerings, from crudo to whole fish.
Avenue Fish & Oyster Company is part of the Blue Bridge Hospitality group, which already operates several popular dining spots in Coronado, including Stake Chophouse & Bar and Little Frenchie. Avenue Fish & Oyster Company will be situated next to the group's MooTime Creamery, a beloved ice cream parlor. The name of the new restaurant pays homage to two former Coronado landmarks: the Fish Company restaurant and the Avenue gift shop.
Before its debut, the longtime Leroy's space will undergo a complete renovation, incorporating an art nouveau-inspired design with a calming color palette of seafoam greens, blues, and lilacs. The transformation is intended to create a vibrant yet relaxed setting that complements the coastal cuisine.
In addition to its seafood-centric menu, Avenue Fish & Oyster Company will feature a curated cocktail program and a wine list that emphasizes white wines and sparkling options, offering ideal pairings for the restaurant’s fresh offerings. The establishment will be open for weekday lunches, weekend brunches, and dinner every night.
Avenue Fish & Oyster Company is expected to open in early 2025 at 1015 Orange Avenue in San Diego's Coronado. For more information, visit bluebridgehospitality.com.
