Liberty Call Distillery was founded in 2014 in Spring Valley by Coronado natives Bill Rogers and Marc Lord. The duo always envisioned bringing their business back to their hometown. In June 2020, the company expanded by opening its first bar and restaurant in a 3,300-square-foot space in Barrio Logan. Earlier this year, they finally fulfilled their dreams of extending their reach to Coronado, taking over the 3,500-square-foot space formerly occupied by Serrano's Street Tacos & Bar to launch Shore Duty in August.
Despite their aspirations, Shore Duty's time in downtown Coronado was brief. The restaurant has announced its permanent closure, effective after service tonight. The reason for the sudden shutdown has not been disclosed, and future plans for the space remain unclear.
"The sun has set on Shore Duty," read the company’s social media statement. "With heavy hearts, we’ve made the tough decision to close our doors, and today is our final day of operation. We’re so grateful for our incredible supporters and community - you’ve made this journey unforgettable."
Liberty Call Distillery's Barrio Logan bar & restaurant at Mercado Del Barrio is also up for sale. The 3,000 square-foot eatery is listed for $295,000, which includes fixtures and a Type 6 and 74 Liquor License. The rent is $10,885.17 per month.
Shore Duty was located at 126 Orange Avenue in Coronado. For updates and information about Liberty Call Distilling, visit libertycall.com.
