Señor Mangos Bringing Fresh Smoothies & Healthy Eats To San Diego's Hillcrest

Señor Mangos, the beloved North Park juice bar and cafe known for its fresh smoothies, juices, and healthy snacks, is preparing to open its third San Diego location in Hillcrest.

The new Señor Mangos location will be located on Washington Street in a building that once housed Copper Top Coffee & Donuts and, before that, Wienerschnitzel. The site features a preexisting drive-thru window, which will make this Señor Mangos’ first drive-thru location.

Founded in 2002 by brothers Jaime and Armando Leon while they were students at San Diego State University, Señor Mangos started as a humble corner shop on 30th Street and Madison Avenue. Over the years, it has gained a loyal following for its menu of customizable smoothies, acai bowls, fresh juices, salads, wraps, tortas, and indulgent desserts like banana splits and chamangos. The Leons also operated the neighboring Leon Produce, which further rooted their presence in the North Park community.

In 2021, the business expanded by opening a second location at 3042 North Park Way, which previously housed The Classic Rock Sandwich Shoppe. Now, the brothers are bringing their concept to Hillcrest, with plans to open the new location in early 2025. According to Armando Leon, the new spot will offer the same menu favorites that customers know and love, including escamocha (a mix of seasonal fruits with sweet cream, diced almonds, and coconut) and chamango (a mango blend with homemade chile sauce, lime, chamoy, and fresh mango pieces).

Señor Mangos is expected to open in February or March 2025 at 101 West Washington Street in San Diego's Hillcrest community. For more information, visit senormangos.com.
