Lana Brings Elevated California Coastal Cuisine To San Diego's Solana Beach

A new chapter has begun at the longtime California Pizza Kitchen space in San Diego's Solana Beach, where Lana, a refined California coastal restaurant, has officially opened its doors.

Lana is the collaborative vision of industry veterans Mark Wheadon, Travis LeGrand, and chef David McIntyre. The team brings decades of high-end culinary and hospitality experience from top-tier establishments across the globe to the building that housed one of the oldest California Pizza Kitchen restaurants for over three decades.

With a 2,500-square-foot indoor-outdoor dining space, the restaurant seats up to 187 guests, including a keyhole-shaped bar and spacious patio seating designed for a seamless coastal dining experience. The interior draws inspiration from vintage California aesthetics, favoring understated elegance over the typical seaside palette.

Lana introduces a sophisticated yet laid-back dining destination to this steadily evolving North County coastal community. The menu focuses on seasonal West Coast ingredients, with a strong emphasis on fresh seafood, responsibly sourced meats, and local produce. Offerings include simple yet refined dishes such as roasted chicken, local spot prawns, house-made flatbreads, and a variety of expertly prepared steaks. McIntyre’s culinary philosophy favors clean compositions that highlight a handful of quality ingredients on each plate.

The beverage program complements the kitchen’s seasonal approach, featuring a curated selection of California wines from boutique producers alongside international varietals. The cocktail menu, crafted by bar director Brandon Curry, incorporates kitchen elements for creative and sustainable drinks, including options like a cucumber and pink peppercorn gimlet and a sesame oil-spiked Old Fashioned.

Lana is now open at 437 South Hwy 101 in San Diego's North County city of Solana Beach. For more information, visit lanasb.com.
