Tom Papa at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay (August 1) - You might know him as a host, author, actor and star of six outstanding specials: Home Free, What A Day!You’re Doing Great!Human MuleFreaked Out and Tom Papa Live in New York City. In between sold-out comedy shows, he’s an expert bread-baker and host of the hit podcast Breaking Bread with Tom Papa. Tom’s baking up a batch of hilarious new jokes for San Diego, fresh from the oven. Artwalk Liberty Station (August 1-3) - One of San Diego's most anticipated art festivals returns to Liberty Station this summer, as the San Diego Foundation ArtWalk celebrates its 20th year. The weekend-long event will feature more than 175 artists from across the United States and Mexico, offering a vibrant showcase of paintings, sculpture, photography, glasswork, jewelry, and ceramics in an open-air, family-friendly setting. Festivities begin Friday evening with a special ticketed Preview pARTy, giving attendees early access to artwork and the opportunity to meet participating artists before the weekend crowds, as well as live music from James Taylor tribute band Never Die Young, Fleetwood Max, and food vendors and drinks available for purchase. Retro Rewind: Shaun of the Dead at Balboa Theatre (August 3) - Grab your mates and head to the historic Balboa Theatre for a cult classic comedy-horror night with Shaun of the Dead. The Beach Boys: The Sounds of Summer Tour at The Rady Shell (August 9) - Celebrate more than 60 years of California sound with The Beach Boys live at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. This special summer concert will include a guest appearance by John Stamos and feature timeless hits that defined American surf culture. Blending Catalan rumba, flamenco, salsa, and pop, the Gipsy Kings are beloved for hits like "Bamboléo," "Djobi Djoba," and "Un Amor." Joined by acclaimed indie rockers Spoon and rising New Zealand artist Fazerdaze, this stacked lineup promises a night of raw energy and genre-defining hits like "Where Is My Mind?," "Here Comes Your Man," and "Monkey Gone to Heaven."

Nelly with Ja Rule, Eve & Special Guests: Where The Party At Tour at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre (August 27) - Hip-hop heavyweights Nelly, Ja Rule, and Eve hit the stage in Chula Vista for a night of nonstop throwback anthems and high-energy performances from some of the biggest names in early 2000s rap and R&B.
Weird Al Yankovic: Bigger & Weirder Tour at The Rady Shell (August 29) - The king of musical parody returns to San Diego with his Bigger & Weirder 2025 Tour, a full-production comedy rock spectacle featuring never-before-performed fan favorites and hits like "Amish Paradise," "White & Nerdy," and "Smells Like Nirvana." Joined by his longtime band and four additional musicians, Weird Al delivers his most over-the-top show yet. Opening the night is the operatic sad clown, Puddles Pity Party. Expect strobe lights, laughter, and a night of unapologetic weirdness by the bay.

Disco Lines at Gallagher Square with Lee Foss, Deeper Purpose & Maesic (August 29) - Dance the night away at Gallagher Square at Petco Park as rising EDM star Disco Lines headlines a high-energy night of electronic music. Joining the lineup are house music heavyweights Lee Foss, Deeper Purpose, and Maesic, making this a must-attend summer party in downtown San Diego.

Tchaikovsky Spectacular at The Rady Shell (August 30) - The San Diego Symphony and conductor Stephanie Childress present a dazzling night of Tchaikovsky favorites, including the Romeo and Juliet Overture, selections from Eugene Onegin, and the grand finale: the 1812 Overture, complete with fireworks over San Diego Bay. Austrian pianist Kiron Atom Tellian makes his SDSO debut with Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1.

Holo Holo Music Festival at Gallagher Square (August 30-31) - Close out the month with two days of island-style reggae at Petco Park’s Gallagher Square. Headliners include Wyclef Jean, J Boog, and Ekolu, alongside food vendors, merch booths, and a laid-back tropical atmosphere.

SNAP! Best of the ’90s with the San Diego Symphony at The Rady Shell (August 31) - Relive the music of the 1990s as conductor Stuart Chafetz leads the San Diego Symphony and guest vocalists through a nostalgic night of chart-topping hits. Featuring songs made famous by George Michael, U2, Seal, REM, Aerosmith, and more, the concert celebrates the iconic era of Friends, Seinfeld, and The Simpsons with performances of "Livin’ La Vida Loca," "Kiss From a Rose," "Champagne Supernova," and other beloved anthems. 

From orchestral dinosaur battles and cult movie marathons to sneaker swaps, surf exhibits, and high-voltage hip-hop reunions, San Diego's August lineup is everything summer should be.
