Good Enough Cocktail Club Coming Soon To San Diego's Little Italy

In addition to opening a new restaurant collective in the former Little Italy Food Hall, Tiger Hospitality has taken over the space space across from Piazza della Famiglia previously occupied by Sam The Cooking Guy's Basta! for the opening of Good Enough Cocktail Club.

A new cocktail destination is on the horizon in San Diego's Little Italy, as Tiger Hospitality’s Berke Bakay is bringing in bartenders Mike Mayaudon and Shawn Seaman, the duo behind Carlsbad’s Same Same, to launch Good Enough Cocktail Club in the former Basta restaurant within Piazza della Famiglia. Billed as "your neighborhood cocktail bar with hifi aesthetics," the venue is expected to open this summer, adding a fresh option to one of San Diego's busiest dining districts.

The 1,646-square-foot space with a 700-square-foot patio was home to Basta, the short-lived Italian wine bar concept from local culinary personality Sam "The Cooking Guy" Zien and hospitality group Grit & Grain Collective. Basta replaced Graze by Sam The Cooking Guy in 2024, but its run ended abruptly this February alongside the sudden closure of the Little Italy Food Hall, reportedly with minimal notice to employees and vendors.

Bakay, who operates the popular Windmill Food Hall in Carlsbad and the soon-to-open Miramar Food Hall in San Clemente, has also taken over the shuttered food hall space directly across the piazza. That site is being completely redesigned by San Diego’s acclaimed BASILE Studio and will feature five dining concepts, dessert kiosks, and a reoriented indoor-outdoor bar. Confirmed vendors include Cosmos Burger, Lobster Lab, and La Vida, with a Detroit-style pizza operator and fresh pasta concept in the works.

While Bakay is the leaseholder, day-to-day operations of Good Enough will be handled by Mayaudon and Seaman, who plan to bring their approachable bar culture from Same Same to Little Italy. Signature cocktails will hover around the $14 range with premium options for high rollers, alongside a food menu featuring Spanish-style tapas and pintxos such as a limited Basque cheesecake. Vintage 1975 Cornwall speakers and curated records will set a warm, hi-fi tone that emphasizes atmosphere as much as the drinks. Together with the incoming food hall, the project represents a significant revitalization of the Piazza della Famiglia.

Good Enough Cocktail Club is expected to open in late August at 555 W Date Street, Suite B, in San Diego's Little Italy, with the new food hall debuting in late fall or early 2026. For more information, follow @goodenoughcocktailclub on Instagram
