San Diego’s 619 Spirits Seeks Nearly $200k Crowd-Sourced Investment For Major Relocation And Expansion In North Park

More than a decade after opening its original distillery and tasting room in North Park, San Diego’s first urban craft distillery is preparing for its biggest move yet. 619 Spirits is aiming to relocate from its longtime Lincoln Avenue home to a massive 8,000-square-foot space at 2875 El Cajon Boulevard through a crowd-sourced investment plan, a project that will combine expanded distillery operations with a full-service restaurant, cocktail bar, retail shop, and private event spaces.

To make the ambitious project a reality, 619 Spirits has launched a community-backed investment campaign, inviting supporters to participate through a crowd-sourced funding plan on WeFunder, which has already raised over $100,000. The capital raised will help finance construction, new equipment, packaging, and distribution upgrades, with early investors promised higher returns.

The new flagship, sited in the longtime space of Alliance for African Assistance Thrift Store, will triple production capacity, seat more than 200 guests, and feature a state-of-the-art distillation system, upgraded kitchen, and outdoor patio. For founder Nick Apostolopoulos, it’s the next logical step in a journey that began when he left his career in software to focus on spirits. In 2015, he fought for - and took advantage of - a major change in California law that allowed distilleries to operate tasting rooms, sell bottles direct to consumers, and even serve cocktails and food on site. That shift paved the way for 619 Spirits' original North Park venue to become a full-scale bar and restaurant, which quickly became a neighborhood staple.
Since launching in 2012, 619 Spirits has gained national recognition for its small-batch, cane sugar–based vodka and creative infusions like rose petal, pickle, and coffee - all made with fresh, natural ingredients sourced locally. Its signature 619 Vodka was named USA Today’s "Best Craft Vodka Distillery" in 2019 and has remained in the top 10 every year since. Today, the business reportedly generates over $1 million annually, has maintained stellar customer reviews, and has become a fixture in San Diego's craft beverage scene.

To help fund the relocation and buildout, 619 Spirits' WeFunder campaign seeks to raise $180,000 through a community investment note. Investors are promised a projected 1.8x return - or 2.0x for early backers - over a five-year term, with proceeds going toward construction, equipment, packaging, and expanded distribution. The move will also position the company to grow its Ready-to-Drink cocktail line and increase direct-to-consumer sales.
Once complete, the new North Park location will serve as a hub for craft cocktails, spirit tastings, pairing dinners, and community events, continuing the brand’s commitment to using only Southern California -produced craft spirits in its beverage program. Apostolopoulos calls the expansion a milestone for both the company and the community it serves - a chance to "build a true San Diego destination" while keeping the business rooted in its local-first philosophy.

619 Spirits is currently located at 3015 Lincoln Avenue in San Diego's North Park. For more information, visit 619spirits.com.
