Texas-Based Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet To Open First San Diego County Location

One of Texas' most recognizable buffet brands is expanding west, with Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet announcing plans to open its first San Diego County outpost. The restaurant, known for its expansive all-day buffet of halal Mediterranean cuisine, has become a viral favorite in Texas and beyond, and is now preparing to bring its format to local diners.

Founded in Houston in 1992, Dimassi’s has grown steadily to 24 locations across Texas and California, with several more in development. The family-owned brand, led by brothers Sam and Mo Khader, has earned a loyal following for its variety-driven approach to dining. Buffets typically feature more than 70 items daily, ranging from staples like hummus, falafel, and kabobs to stuffed grape leaves, fresh salads, and desserts such as baklava. Vegan, vegetarian, halal, and gluten-free options are all well represented, making the experience accessible to a wide audience.

Dimassi’s already operates in Anaheim and Cerritos, and its entry into the San Diego County market marks only the third California location for the brand. Owners say the new outpost, taking over the space formerly occupied by Romano’s Macaroni Grill within El Camino North Shopping Mall in Oceanside, will stay true to the company’s founding mission: serving fresh, homemade Mediterranean food at an affordable price point, while emphasizing hospitality and community.

"Our mission has always been to bring the bold, healthful flavors of the Mediterranean to as many people as possible," said co-owner Sam Khader in a recent company statement.

Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet is expected to open at 2655 Vista Way in Oceanside in first half 2026. For more information, visit dimassis.com
