Madi Brunch-Focused Restaurant Unveils In San Diego's Pacific Beach

San Diego has a new brunch destination as the team behind Madison on Park and Madi in Normal Heights has opened Madi Pacific Beach, bringing creative breakfast and lunch dishes, cocktails, and coffee to the former Rubio's location.

University Heights hospitality veterans Jeffrey Fink and Matt Sieve, the team behind Madison on Park and its brunch-centric spinoff Madi, have opened a new Pacific Beach outpost of Madi. The restaurant, located at 910 Grand Avenue in the former Rubio’s space within the Grand Central plaza, soft opens on September 30 with a menu of breakfast, brunch, and lunch.

The new location builds on the success of the original Madi, which debuted in Normal Heights in 2022. Known for its vibrant retro-inspired design and globally influenced brunch menu, Madi quickly earned a following with creative takes on morning staples. The Pacific Beach expansion follows the same ethos, offering a mix of playful, indulgent, and health-conscious dishes alongside cocktails, mocktails, coffee, and fresh juices.

Menu highlights include waffle churro sticks served with jalapeño-blackberry sauce, maple cream cheese, and strawberries; blackberry and goat cheese pancakes with maple syrup; coconut cream pancakes topped with whipped cream and toasted coconut; and a hearty chicken-fried steak and eggs plate with sausage gravy and toast. Guests can also opt for savory favorites like chilaquiles verdes, a Mediterranean breakfast with hummus, pita, and avocado, and the Oklahoma onion burger, a grass-fed beef patty smothered with thinly sliced onions and melted American cheese. For a lighter option, diners can build their own bowls with bases such as quinoa, kale, or arugula, paired with proteins like grilled carnitas, salmon, or ahi tuna and finished with vegetables, extras, and sauces.

The drinks program keeps brunch front and center with $12 mimosas in flavors like orange-pineapple-kale, watermelon wave, and guava elderflower, along with pitchers for groups. A selection of cold-pressed juices, coffee by Heartwork, and low-ABV cocktails round out the menu.

The Pacific Beach location joins the University Heights flagship Madison on Park and the original Madi in Normal Heights, with another Madi scheduled to open soon in Hillcrest at The Hub shopping center, in the space previously occupied by Panera Bread. With its stylish design, expansive menu, and prime location just blocks from the beach, Madi PB is poised to become a go-to destination for brunch in one of San Diego’s most popular neighborhoods.
