Another Broken Egg Café Bringing Its Southern Charm To San Diego County

Another Broken Egg Café, a Southern-inspired breakfast and brunch chain, will open its first San Diego County eatery in 2026.

The restaurant, known for its chef-driven take on classic Southern comfort food, will debut in the Chula Vista/Eastlake area, introducing the brand’s signature elevated brunch experience to San Diego’s South Bay. Franchise owners Zeeshan Naqvi and his niece Mahrouz Syed are leading the expansion, bringing the Louisiana-born concept west after visiting several of the brand’s acclaimed locations in Florida and the Carolinas. The pair plans to open multiple sites throughout San Diego County, with at least five total locations envisioned over the next few years. A second café is already expected to follow within 12 months of the South Bay opening.

The Chula Vista location will feature Southern-inspired staples like Shrimp ‘N Grits, Chicken & Waffles, and the Lobster and Brie Omelette, alongside a variety of creative brunch cocktails, mimosas, and bloody marys. Guests can expect a modern, family-friendly atmosphere that emphasizes hospitality and community gathering.

Founded in 1996 near New Orleans, Another Broken Egg Café has grown into one of the nation’s fastest-expanding breakfast and brunch franchises, with more than 100 locations in 17 states and nearly 100 additional cafes currently in development. The company recently announced a revamped executive leadership team under new President and CEO Jorge Salvat, who previously held senior roles with Burger King, McDonald’s, and Dunkin’ Brands. Salvat’s focus on strengthening franchisee support and enhancing guest experience is helping drive the brand’s latest wave of nationwide growth.

Complementing the operational overhaul, the company’s culinary team - led by Vice President of Culinary Joel Reynders - continues to innovate with seasonal menus and creative dishes designed to blend Southern flavors with modern trends. The brand’s emphasis on quality, scratch-made ingredients, and warm hospitality has helped it earn recognition from Entrepreneur and Franchise Times as one of the top fast-growing “NextGen Casual” restaurant brands in the U.S.

Another Broken Egg Cafe is anticipated to open mid-February 2026 in San Diego's South Bay. For more information, visit anotherbrokenegg.com.
