Founded in Copenhagen in 2002 by Kaspar Basse, Joe & The Juice has built a global reputation for its sleek, Scandinavian-inspired cafés serving coffee, cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and light bites like flatbread sandwiches, omelets, and avocado toast. The concept touts its high-energy environment - baristas often double as DJs, curating the shop’s upbeat soundtrack - and its commitment to natural, high-quality ingredients.
The new Mission Valley café will open in the space that last housed The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, marking a return to expansion mode for the brand in San Diego. Joe & The Juice first entered the local market in 2019 with a location inside Westfield UTC mall, followed soon after by a second branch at Carmel Valley’s One Paseo mixed-use development. While the UTC store continues to operate, the One Paseo location shuttered after a short run, amid a period that saw several dining concepts cycle in and out of the upscale complex.
For Joe & The Juice, the upcoming Mission Valley opening offers access to a more central, high-traffic neighborhood near major freeways and universities, where health-conscious cafes and coffee spots have proliferated in recent years. The new outpost will sit alongside Trader Joe’s and other retailers in one of the area’s busiest shopping plazas, part of an ongoing evolution that’s transforming Mission Valley into one of San Diego’s most competitive lifestyle hubs.
Joe & The Juice has more than 350 locations worldwide across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, with a growing U.S. presence in cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Miami. The chain’s San Diego expansion signals a renewed focus on the region’s growing market for fresh, fast-casual cafés with international appeal.
Joe & The Juice is expected to open in early 2026 at 925 Camino De La Reina in San Diego's Mission Valley. For more information, visit joejuice.com.
