Rasoi Modern Indian To Bring Elevated Regional Flavors To San Diego's Scripps Ranch

Scripps Ranch is about to get a major new addition to its dining scene. Rasoi Modern Indian, an acclaimed Bay Area restaurant known for refined regional dishes and warm, family-driven hospitality, is preparing to open its first San Diego outpost in mid-February 2026.

Rasoi is the creation of husband-and-wife team Asif and Jessica Aslam, who have spent more than a decade building a loyal following in Northern California with their upscale yet approachable Indian cuisine. Their Burlingame restaurant has long been praised for its tandoori specialties, vibrant curries, and contemporary atmosphere, earning a reputation as one of the Peninsula’s standout Indian destinations. Now, the Aslams are bringing that vision - and many of their most treasured dishes - to San Diego.
Chef Asif Aslam, who also serves as a private chef to several billionaires and high-profile business leaders, is known for his precision, technique, and insistence on fresh, thoughtfully sourced ingredients. That standard will carry over to Rasoi San Diego, which is expected to highlight house favorites such as tandoori prawns, yogurt-marinated lamb chops, chicken tikka masala, prawn biryani, and the butter chicken that many Bay Area diners insist is the best in Northern California. The menu will showcase Rasoi’s full spectrum of offerings - from seafood specialties to smoky tandoori plates, slow-simmered curries, vegetarian classics, freshly baked naan, and traditional Indian desserts.

The Aslams describe Rasoi as a “modern Indian experience,” balancing traditional techniques with elevated presentation and a polished dining-room design. Their restaurant in Burlingame features a contemporary lounge, craft cocktails, and late-night service - elements that may also influence the layout and style of the new Scripps Ranch location. While full design details have not yet been released, the couple says the San Diego outpost will embody their signature blend of warmth and refinement, with hospitality at the core.
The restaurant will take over the former Chile Peppers Mexican Eatery in Scripps Ranch. The largely residential neighborhood has seen steady growth in family-friendly eateries, but few options offering upscale global cuisine. The arrival of Rasoi is already generating buzz among locals eager for more diverse dining choices - and among Bay Area transplants who know the brand well. With its proven track record, ambitious menu, and dedicated culinary leadership, Rasoi Modern Indian is positioned to become a destination restaurant not just for Scripps Ranch, but for greater San Diego.

Rasoi Modern Indian will open in early 2026 at 10299 Scripps Trail, Suite B, in San Diego's Scripps Ranch community. For more information, visit rasoiburlingame.com
