A L’Ouest, Trust Restaurant Group’s Long-Awaited French Brasserie, Opens In San Diego's North Park February 11

After nearly two years of development, San Diego’s Trust Restaurant Group is officially opening A L’Ouest on Wednesday, February 11, bringing a refined yet atmospheric French brasserie to one of North Park’s most prominent corners.

Located at 3002 University Avenue at the intersection of 30th Street, A L’Ouest occupies a long-vacant, high-visibility space that has been closely watched by the local dining community. The project marks the 13th opening for Trust Restaurant Group and represents one of its most ambitious and design-forward concepts to date.

Founded in 2016 by Executive Chef Brad Wise, Trust Restaurant Group has become one of San Diego’s most influential hospitality operators, known for concepts including Trust, Fort Oak, Rare Society, Cardellino, and The Wise Ox. While the group has expanded beyond San Diego in recent years, A’L’Ouest has long been described internally as a passion project tied specifically to North Park.

A L’Ouest is conceived as a modern brasserie shaped by classic French technique, live-fire cooking, and a late-night sensibility. Dinner service will run Wednesday through Sunday beginning at 5pm, with the restaurant designed to encourage lingering rather than turnover. The menu is expected to focus on wood-fired interpretations of French staples, supported by a robust wine program and cocktail list built around balance and restraint.

Design plays a central role in the restaurant’s identity. The 4,387-square-foot space was designed by Studio Rallou and blends traditional French detailing with a contemporary California softness. Images reveal a layered interior featuring intricate wrought iron accents, arched architectural elements, and warm, muted tones throughout. Organic curves, patterned tile flooring, and soft ambient lighting create a space that feels both elevated and inviting.

Key visual elements include a dramatic bar framed by arched shelving and vintage-inspired lighting, an expansive dining room anchored by greenery-lined banquettes, and a private dining area flanked by temperature-controlled wine walls. A refined restroom design continues the aesthetic with toile wallpaper, brass fixtures, marble surfaces, and framed pastoral artwork, reinforcing the restaurant’s old-world romantic theme.

The exterior has also been carefully considered, with deep green trim, classic French signage, and a wraparound patio that activates both University Avenue and 30th Street. Large windows and retractable elements are designed to blur the line between indoors and out, maximizing views of one of North Park’s most recognizable intersections.

Chef Brad Wise acknowledged the long road to opening in a social media post this week, calling A L’Ouest the longest project he has worked on and crediting his team for seeing it through. The opening represents a milestone not only for Trust Restaurant Group, but for North Park’s evolving dining landscape, which continues to attract destination-level concepts rooted in neighborhood identity.

A L’Ouest opens Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 3002 University Avenue in San Diego’s North Park neighborhood. Reservations are now available via the restaurant’s website at alouestsd.com.
