A surreal crossover between politics, internet culture, and combat sports may be headed to San Diego, at least in theory, after Hunter Biden publicly expressed interest in participating in a cage match against Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump as part of an upcoming live tour stop at Observatory North Park later this month.
The unexpected challenge surfaced in a video posted in connection with journalist Andrew Callaghan’s Channel 5 “Carnival” tour, which is scheduled to make a stop at San Diego's The Observatory North Park on April 25. In the clip, Biden said Callaghan was “trying to organize a cage match, me versus Eric and Don Jr.,” adding, “I told him I’d do it - 100% in if he can pull it off.”
The comments appear to have been made seriously, rather than as an offhand joke, though there has been no official confirmation from either of the Trump brothers or any indication that such a fight is actually being organized. At this stage, the concept remains speculative, with no promoter, sanctioning body, or formal event tied to the idea.
Still, the San Diego venue tied to the tour stop is not entirely unfamiliar with combat sports. The Observatory North Park has previously hosted live mixed martial arts events, including a 2025 debut from Las Vegas-based promotion Tuff-N-Uff, which transformed the historic theater into a functioning fight venue complete with a cage setup. That precedent makes the idea, while highly improbable, at least technically feasible from a production standpoint.
The “All Gas No Brakes x Channel 5 ‘Carnival’” tour is expected to blend Callaghan’s signature gonzo-style journalism with live entertainment elements, including audience participation, rap battles, and screenings of unreleased footage. Stops include Phoenix, San Diego, and Albuquerque, with Biden indicating he plans to appear regardless of whether the proposed fight materializes.
For now, there is no official link between the cage match concept and any scheduled event, including the San Diego tour date. While the idea has generated headlines and online speculation, it remains unclear whether it was floated as a serious proposal, a publicity stunt, or simply part of the chaotic energy that typically surrounds Channel 5 productions.
Absent confirmation from all parties involved, the notion of a Biden-Trump family cage match remains firmly in the realm of hypothetical. But with San Diego set to host one of the tour’s key stops at a venue that has already proven it can accommodate combat sports, the city once again finds itself adjacent to one of the more bizarre intersections of politics and pop culture.
The All Gas No Brakes x Channel 5 “Carnival” tour is scheduled for April 25 at The Observatory North Park, located at 2891 University Avenue in San Diego.
