In a social media announcement on Thursday morning, One Paseo revealed that the wellness-focused restaurant concept is "officially coming" to the development, describing Goop Kitchen as a destination for "clean, flavorful, feel-good meals" featuring nutrient-packed bowls, salads, proteins, smoothies, and more.
The confirmation marks the latest example of what some locals have increasingly described as the "LA-ification" of San Diego's dining and retail landscape, as a growing number of Los Angeles-born brands, including the recently unveiled Sugarfish, make their way south. With Goop Kitchen now officially on the way and rumors continuing to swirl about luxury grocery chain Erewhon eyeing San Diego expansion, North County's premier lifestyle centers are beginning to look increasingly similar to their counterparts in Los Angeles and Orange County.
Founded in 2021 as an extension of Paltrow's wellness empire, Goop Kitchen launched as a delivery-focused concept before rapidly expanding throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. Unlike many celebrity-backed restaurant ventures, the brand has developed a substantial following by focusing on health-conscious meals built around what it calls "clean" ingredients, avoiding refined sugars, processed additives, soy, and seed oils.
The culinary program is overseen by chef Kim Floresca, whose resume includes time at some of the world's most acclaimed restaurants, including The Restaurant at Meadowood in Napa Valley, Per Se in New York, and El Bulli in Spain. The menu emphasizes gluten-free and dairy-free offerings with dishes like the Goop Teriyaki Bowl, Mediterranean Hummus Bowl, Green Goddess Crunch Salad, Mushroom Al Pastor Lettuce Wraps, and various customizable protein-forward meals.
The incoming restaurant will occupy the former Tender Greens space within One Paseo. Since opening in 2019, the Carmel Valley development has emerged as one of San Diego County's most influential lifestyle centers, combining retail, dining, office space, apartments, and public gathering areas into a walkable village environment modeled after successful mixed-use projects throughout Southern California.
Goop Kitchen joins a tenant roster that already includes brands such as Salt & Straw, Shake Shack, Sweetfin, Parakeet Cafe, Nick's Del Mar, and North Italia, further positioning One Paseo as a magnet for nationally recognized concepts seeking entry into the San Diego market.
The arrival of Goop Kitchen also comes amid increasing speculation that Erewhon, the luxury Los Angeles grocery chain known for its celebrity clientele and premium-priced organic products, could eventually expand into San Diego. While no official plans have been announced, the possibility has fueled ongoing discussion about how the region's dining and retail landscape continues to evolve as developers pursue brands with strong lifestyle appeal and affluent customer bases.
Whether viewed as an exciting influx of new concepts or another sign that San Diego is becoming more like Los Angeles, Goop Kitchen's arrival underscores the growing influence of wellness-focused, design-conscious brands on the county's restaurant scene.
Goop Kitchen is expected to open this summer at One Paseo, located at 3725 Paseo Place in San Diego's Carmel Valley community. For more information, visit goopkitchen.com.
