We found it strange when Chef Chad White told us he would be off the radar for nearly two months. As a chef-partner in three restaurants, including Común Kitchen and Tavern in San Diego's East Village, La Justina in Tijuana and Craft Pizza Company in UTC, it seemed uncanny to take off for that length of time with such a full plate of responsibility. It all makes sense now that the word is out that Chef Chad will be a 'rumored' contestant on Season 13 of Bravo's hit cooking competition Top Chef (non-disclosure agreements certainly will not allow Chad to confirm), which wrapped up filming in America's Finest City earlier this month and is scheduled to premier as early as this fall.
California will serve as the setting for the next season of Bravo's Top Chef, starring judges Tom Colicchio, Gail Simmons, Padma Lakshmi and San Diego's own Richard Blais of Juniper + Ivy, who will travel the Golden State and showcase participating culinary talents who will battle it out in iconic destinations to see if they have what it takes to earn the title of 'Top Chef'. Season 13 will return to San Francisco and Los Angeles, where the series began, making additional stops in San Diego, Santa Barbara, Oakland, and the Greater Palm Springs area.
Chef Chad White has made a name for himself on both sides of the border with his unique interpretations of Baja-style cuisine, so it is no surprise to his fans that he is competing on Top Chef. Get a taste of Chef Chad's fare by stopping into Común to experience the revitalized (and more approachable) menu. Now, in addition to his famed tostadas, Común's offerings include tacos, tortas, quesadillas, smothered fries and bowls, amongst other additions. Check out the new menu below, go eat his food and get ready to root Chef Chad on this fall on Season 13 of Top Chef!
