Downtown San Diego's Quartyard Urban Park To Close With Farewell Party On June 2 & Relocate In Late 2017

May 20, 2017

Quartyard, the urban park that opened at 1102 Market Street in San Diego's East Village in March 2015, is gearing up to relocate to its new location at 13th & Market Street. Before they pack up, Quartyard is hosting a ticketed farewell party on Friday, June 2, featuring live art, food trucks, live music and more.

Quartyard is a project from RAD Lab (which stands for "research architecture development laboratory"), and was always considered a temporary public park. The East Village project broke ground in fall 2014 and grand opened on March 7, 2015, constructed using a bunch of retrofitted shipping containers within a 28,500 square foot lot that the city plans to eventually sell to a high-rise housing developer. RAD Lab has signed a 3 year lease on the space, which was used over its tenure to host multiple festivals, event, live performances and private outtings.

The new Quartyard park is anticipated to reopen at 13th & Market in San Diego's East Village in late 2017 and will feature everything you love about Quartyard - including a dog park, beer garden, on-site eatery, coffee shop, and more! Tickets to the farewell party will be available online for $5 and will be $10 at the gate on the day of the event.
