Whiskey Girl taste from last year
June 6, 2012

The Gaslamp Quarter Association presents the 19th annual Taste of Gaslamp, a culinary self-guided tour taking place on Saturday, June 9th, and Sunday, June 10th, from 1-4pm. The event features more than 30 Gaslamp Quarter dining venues on each day, as well as a thirst quenching beer garden presented by Samuel Adams (for guests 21 and older) at Altitude Sky Lounge atop the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter.

The Gaslamp Quarter is known to be inundated with diverse restaurants and dining establishments. The Taste of Gaslamp is the perfect opportunity for guests to globe-trot from plate to plate, revisiting their favorites of the Gaslamp Quarter’s dining scene to the fresh faces that have recently opened.

As "Taste of" veterans, we know that each restaurant can offer something totally different from another.  Our words of advice - don't eat too much off the go, as with this many participating restaurants, you're sure to fill up fast.  By the 7th taste, you may not be able to handle much more, so be sure to pace yourself (and if possible, split a ticket with someone you don't mind sharing food with - sorry organizers).

Tickets are currently available for purchase online, starting at the discounted advance price of $30 per person per day, and include tastings at all participating restaurants. Purchase tickets now as this smorgasbord sells out in advance each year. In addition to the two- to four-ounce samples from each restaurant, attendees will also receive a keepsake Taste of Gaslamp Recipe Book, which highlights favorite recipes from participating Taste of Gaslamp venues.

Proceeds from this exciting event will go towards the Gaslamp Quarter Association’s ongoing promotional programs and efforts to enhance and protect this national historic district. (619/233-5227, www.gaslamp.org)  Check out the participating restaurants below.
