Karl Strauss Opens 7th Brewery Restaurant in 4S Ranch

After much anticipation, Karl Strauss has opened its seventh brewery restaurant in the north inland San Diego community of 4S Ranch, just west of Rancho Bernardo. This is the company’s first brewery restaurant to open in more than ten years.
Karl Strauss has spent the last decade focused on growing its brewing operations and expanding its beer distribution beyond San Diego, more than doubling in size from 20,000 barrels in 2002 to 50,000 barrels projected for 2012.

“Now that we’ve increased our capacity and set the foundation for growth, it’s the right time to open another brewery restaurant,” says Matt Rattner, President and Co-Founder of Karl Strauss Brewing Company.  “We look forward to sharing our beers with the 4S Ranch community and from the emails we’ve been getting, there are some thirsty folks out there!”

The new location brings to life the company’s refreshed brand and features a metro-loft, brewery vibe.  From the outside, large glass windows peer into the brand new 7-barrel brew house, letting you know that you’re dining right next to the working brewery.  Inside, a mix of metal, stone, concrete and reclaimed wood bring the brewery elements into the dining space. Large garage door roll-ups bring the outdoors in and overlook the large patio and outdoor fire-pit. The custom-built concrete bar is the heart of the space, with up to twelve beers on tap at all times, including a tap dedicated to beers brewed onsite.

“We’re excited to have an in-house brewer here to help keep up with demand and brew special test batches,” says Paul Segura, Brewmaster.  In addition to the beers on tap, the restaurant will feature a wide variety of its award winning specialty beers in 22oz bombers as well as weekly Thursday cask nights.  The menu will feature the company’s signature West Coast Pub Fare, with unique beer and food pairing specials rotating each month.  “We want this to be a space where people can hang out with their friends, enjoy a great meal, and pair it with handcrafted beer,” says Segura.
