After launching a new menu last summer, which included removing dishes, updating recipes and adding new items, Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza & Grill has announced plans to bring back its original menu in response to customer requests. Sammy’s has returned to serving it’s menu of globally inspired classics and original recipes that guests have come to love over the last 23 years.
Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza & Grill opened its doors in 1989, in La Jolla, California. Since then, 18 locations have opened throughout California and Nevada. A contemporary dining experience, the menu highlights dishes that are oak roasted in Sammy’s famous woodfired oven. Sammy’s cuisine is created using local, organic, and nutritionally balanced ingredients wherever possible, and all cuisine is prepared without butter or artificial trans fat.
The core business values at Sammy’s have always been focused on customer service and innovation and the company spent the last year making improvements throughout the restaurants, including design remodels and the addition of a full bar and handcrafted cocktails at multiple locations, a new logo and website. The new menu changes were part of the brand’s recent updates.
“Being an innovator whose first priority is our customer means that sometimes adjustments need to be made to provide the best experience and service possible,” said Nicole Abraham, vice president of marketing for the Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza & Grill. “We knew how passionate our diners were about Sammy’s, but after the overwhelming response we realized this, and the importance of returning to our core business, even more. This is especially true as we continue our growth into 2013.”

Sammy’s “Classics” have been added back to the menu: Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese, Thai Chicken Satays, Baba Ghanoush, Crab & Shrimp Dip, Crispy French Fries, Prosciutto Pizza, Five Cheese Pizza, Thai Chicken or Shrimp Pizza, Chinese Chicken Salad and Grilled Chicken & Hummus Wrap.
The following items have returned to its original recipe and preparations: Margherita Pizza (tomatoes, garlic and fresh basil), Garlic Chicken and Shrimp Pizza, The Original Chopped Chicken Salad, Chilled Roasted Vegetable Salad, Oak Roasted Salmon Filet, Tomato Angel Hair Pasta.
A few new favorites will be added to Sammy’s original menu, including: Japanese Style Chicken Meatballs, Shrimp & Grits and Burrata & Pesto Pizza.
