2nd Annual Front Burner Fund Food Fest Fundraiser To Take Place at Carnitas' Snack Shack | Tuesday, May 14th

Front Burner Fund is proud to be hosting its 2nd annual fundraiser at San Diego's favorite pork palace, Carnitas’ Snack Shack, on Tuesday, May 14th from 6-9pm. Come join some of San Diego's top chefs for a swinging fun party with delicious food for a great cause.  As in years past, tickets for the event are $25 in advance and $35 at the door, a small price to pay to grub on tasty bites and to support a wonderful charity.

Founded in 2012 by four San Diego culinary leaders, the Front Burner Fund is a 501(c)(3) charity committed to raising funds to assist back of house restaurant staff with health costs and emergency medical needs. The passion project of a few leaders in the local culinary community including Ron Troyano, Julie Darling, Flor Franco, and Maria Sparks, the Front Burner Fund is approaching its second year and the organization has grown its board of directors to eight members from various backgrounds and industries.  The board is now positioned to allocate the proceeds from their fundraising events to recipients throughout the year with a formal application and review process. Local chefs and back of house staff can apply for a grant by writing a letter detailing their reason of need to Ron Troyano at [email protected] or Julie Darling at [email protected].

In 2012, the fund conducted two events which raised over $6,000 to help with one recipient and build the infrastructure of the organization.  In 2013, the event schedule has been increased to three events with the first being held on Tuesday, May 14th at Carnitas Snack Shack, more details to follow.

“Not only will the Front Burner Fund bring the culinary community closer together,” says Troyano, “we are hopeful that it will also bring some much needed awareness to the cause and the medical needs of our local culinary talents.”

For this year's fundraiser, each tasting ticket purchased will include access to each and every chefs’ tastings, and one complimentary drink, including beer or wine.  There will be a cash beer & wine bar for those wishing to kick back a few.  This year, the chefs attending the event include:
