San Diego is the craft beer capital of the United States, so what better way to celebrate Independence Day weekend than with unlimited beer tastings right under a giant American flag on the grounds of a former Navy barracks? The 3rd annual San Diego Brew Fest returns to Liberty Station's NTC Promenade on Saturday, July 6th promising another fun filled day. This year's event will feature dozens of local and international craft beers, live music, as well as some San Diego’s most coveted food trucks.
We attended last year's Brew Fest and had a grand ole time gallivanting about the lawn, sipping beers from newly birthed breweries and old alike, so much so that we embraced a blissful beer nap under the sun on the sprawling lawn of NTC Promenade...and it was glorious. Organized by Drink Eat Play, this event features tons of breweries (full list below). In year's past, lines have been short and offerings plentiful, allowing participants to sample many, many varieties of beer.
“What makes this event unique is not only the number of breweries participating, but the emphasis on San Diego breweries, including Aztec, Manzanita, Ballast Point, Belching Beaver, Golden Coast Mead, Helms, Iron Fist, Julian Cider, Karl Strauss, Latitude 33, PB Ale House, Rip Current, Rock Bottom, Rough Draft, Saint Archer, Thorn Street, Chuck Alek, Roseville, Prohibition, Acoustic Ales, Oceanside Ale Works, Mission, New English, Hillcrest, Ironfire, and Hess," said festival promotor Dan Silberstein from Drink Eat Play. "Plus, Liberty Station is a great venue, and with food trucks and live music, it’s the perfect event.”
The San Diego Brew Fest’s proceeds will benefit Noah’s Bark Pet Rescue, an all volunteer nonprofit whose aim is to rescue dogs from shelters and find permanent homes for rescued pets. Proceeds from the event will go towards funding food, shelter and veterinary bills for rescued pets.
General admission is $40 (3pm to 6pm) and VIP tickets are available for $50 (2pm to 6pm). Both types of admission include unlimited beer tastings, with VIP admission offering an additional hour to imbibe. Tickets can be purchased online, and if still available, at the entrance on the day of the event (additional costs may apply). Food is sold separately by each vendor, which will include Super Q, Dogshack, Devilicious, Swieners, WTF Pizza, Two For The Road, NY on Rye, Pierogi Truck, and Slaters 50/50. Please keep in mind that the event is limited to 21 and over and no pets are allowed.
