Feathers, Beads, Flair...AND Snoop Dogg at the 20th Annual Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp | Fat Tuesday, March 4

February 26, 2014

San Diego's annual Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp Celebration and Parade has pulled out all the stops for it's 20th year! The party that San Diegans know and love returns to 5th Avenue Fat Tuesday, March 4. The performers, parade and spectacle is set to be the best ever for the over 30,000 revelers expected to attend, as this year will feature a special DJ set from the hip-hopping, show stopping DJ Snoopadelic (yes, the actual Snoop Dogg will reportedly be spinning). Twenty-Two city blocks within the venue will feature 3 main stages and 3 satellite stages along and adjacent to 5th Avenue, each stage featuring live DJ entertainment as entertainers and dancers perform and toss beads to the crowd in true Mardi Gras fashion.

What would Mardi Gras be without a parade? The Big Easy Parade will kick-off as the stages go crazy and the roar of music begins to play in unison down 5th Avenue, grabbing the attention of the celebrants. The parade will travel 8 blocks down Fifth Avenue as the lights begin to move and draw focus down the main artery of the Gaslamp! Expect multiple music groups, roving performers and specialty acts from 9-9:30pm, readying the crowd for the traditional, New Orleans-like floats parade. The Celebrity Grand Marshal officially starts the “Parade of Floats” at 9:30 PM featuring over 40 OVER-THE-TOP designed floats continuing down 5th Avenue with an explosion of energy until 10:30pm.

Tickets to the Mardi Gras Celebration and Parade are $40 for General Admission and $75 for VIP from February 23 - March 3, and $45 for General Admission and $85 for VIP on the day of the event. Participants can upgrade their Mardi Gras Celebration and Parade experience by going VIP for an exclusive night complete with complimentary beverages and more! Additional ticket will be available including a dinner package and Club VIP ticket. Attendees must be 21 years or older and have a valid ID to enter.

Proceeds of the 20th Annual Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp will benefit the non-profit, Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit sdmardigras.com or call 619-233-5008.
