The Headquarters Launches European Style Farmers' Market This Sunday, March 23

March 19, 2014

On Sunday, March 23, The Headquarters at Seaport District will debut Brian’s Certified Farmers’ Market featuring gourmet items in a setting inspired by the eclectic and bustling European markets.  Every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. more than 30 vendors will line Harbor Drive stretching from Pacific Highway to the park offering a bountiful array of locally grown and produced delicacies.  Shoppers will stroll among the charming and cheerful stalls displaying an enticing selection of tempting sweets, such as unusual preserves, honeys, and savories, with flavorful olives and nuts, as well as authentic crusty European breads and artisan cheeses, a wide variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh cut flowers, seafood and wines.

“The Headquarters is ideally suited to an open-air market.  Visitors can explore the many stalls that will line the property and immerse themselves in a culture where freshness comes first and quality is a top priority,” said Jennifer Gordon, vice president of marketing for Terramar Retail Centers, owner and developer of The Headquarters at Seaport District. “Brian’s Certified Farmers’ Market is a specialty market, rich in diversity and offering only the highest quality of goods and produce, and strolling through the marketplace on Sunday is a great family outing and sure to be popular with the community”

Adding another layer of aromas and flavor to the experience, several of The Headquarters restaurateurs will have stalls in the market.  Puesto will offer its signature tacos, Venissimo Cheese will feature its  artisan cheeses, and Gelato Paradiso will sell delicious Italian ice cream to shoppers in need of a quick pick-me-up.  Guests also will be treated to live music and cooking demonstrations.
The Headquarters engaged San Diego Farmers Market creator Brian Beevers, who is collaborating with David Klamen of Ocean Beach Farmers Market, to create the ideal market experience.  Brian’s Certified Farmers’ Market’s stylized stalls exude a traditional marketplace feel, where guests can browse through the diverse assortment of goods in a seaside, open-air environment.

Committed to bringing fresh, pesticide and herbicide-free produce to all families, Brian’s Farmers’ Markets constitute four of just six San Diego farmers markets that accept “electronic transfer” so  recipients of public assistance in California, too, can buy organic and pesticide free produce. In addition, the market will offer the popular Community Supported Agriculture program that provides customers with a weekly basket of produce, at a fixed cost, from multiple farms.  Details about the program and how to sign-up can be found at farmersmarketcsa.com.  The collaboration between The Headquarters and Brian’s Certified Farmers’ Market, assures consumers they are receiving the highest quality from certified farmers and producers.

Shoppers can relax after strolling through the market and enjoy a delicious meal at one of The Headquarters’ great restaurants – Eddie V’s, Pizzeria Mozza, Puesto, Seasons 52 and The Cheesecake Factory.  More information about The Headquarters events and store hours may be obtained by contacting The Headquarters Concierge at (619) 238-0286 or visiting online theheadquarters.com.
