Davanti Enoteca at the Del Mar Highlands Town Center has announced the promotion of Michael Nogera to the position of executive chef. In his new role, Nogera will lead the kitchen and bring creativity and passion to the award-winning restaurant known for its rustic Italian cuisine. Nogera began as sous chef at Davanti Enoteca in April 2013 with ambitions to one day head the restaurant’s kitchen. Earlier positions include working in the Las Vegas kitchens of the esteemed Michael Mina Restaurants and Vox Wine Lounge as well as Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg, CA.
“We’re excited to see what dishes Chef Michael will introduce to Davanti Enoteca this spring,” said Kevin Haagenson, general manager of Davanti Enoteca in Del Mar. “We place high importance on having a natural love for food, and Chef Michael has already shown an incredible passion for this craft.”
Nogera fell in love with cooking at a young age; as a child he enjoyed helping his grandmother make family-recipe spaghetti sauces. Following high school he pursued the profession in earnest, receiving an associate degree from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In the kitchen of Davanti Enoteca, Nogera can often be found making his favorite dish, the signature Cacio e Pepe. The Normal Heights resident’s favorite part of being a chef is finding inspiration from a variety of ingredients and the ability to be creative. Nogera is also an avid fan of exploring San Diego’s dining scene.
“When I joined Davanti Enoteca I was drawn to its rustic style of food, the simplicity of the dishes and the atmosphere of the restaurant,” said Nogera. “There is also a lot of encouragement and recognition coming from the managers and ownership, which I appreciate.”
