The Wine Pub and Andrea's Truffles Team Up For Wine and Truffle Pairing Dinner | March 10

February 21, 2015

The traditional chocolate and wine duo will get a facelift at the The Wine Pub's Vinho de Truffle event - a port wine and dark chocolate truffle pairing meant to satisfy any sweet tooth. On March 10, Point Loma’s favorite dog-friendly wine bar teams up with local truffle expert, Chef Andrea Davis of Andrea's Truffles, for the least nutritious but most mouthwatering pairing in San Diego.

At Vinho de Truffle, indulge yourself with an exquisite evening of port wines and one-of-a-kind, hand-made chocolates from Andrea’s Truffles, including St. Agur blue cheese and zinfandel truffle, featuring a creamy, cheddary blue cheese flavor with notes of zinfandel and topped with toasted pecans, as well as salted caramel and pecans, featuring salt locally harvested in La Jolla, hand-made vanilla flavors and a unique tang to compliment any dessert wine. There will even be a port wine reduction truffle, featuring the sweet and condensed tastes of a port wine confined to dark chocolate walls of decadence.

“It’s common to pair truffles with beer in San Diego, but its never paired with dessert wine,” says Sandy Hanshaw, owner of The Wine Pub. “The saltiness of Andrea’s Truffles will break up the sweetness of the port’s for a melt-in-your-mouth pairing we’re looking forward to.”

Chef Andrea’s reputation for using whole ingredients to create off-the-wall truffles makes her a natural fit on The Wine Pub’s gourmet, modern menu. Davis regularly works with The Pub chef Malissa Sorsby to collaborate on innovative and decadent menu items that keep guests coming back for more.

For $20 attendees of Vinho de Truffle can sample two hand-crafted truffles and three ports, including Quintal de la Rosa Tawny Port, Warre’s Warrior Port and Malamado, Malbec Port. To learn more about The Wine Pub, visit www.thewinepubsd.com. For more information on Andrea’s Truffles, click here.
