Arts & Amps Returns To Karl Strauss On Saturday, June 27 | San Diego's Original Craft Brewer Spotlights Local Art And Music

June 16, 2015

The second installment of Karl Strauss Brewing Company’s Arts & Amps event takes place on Saturday, June 27, from 5 to 8pm at Karl Strauss’ main tasting room in Pacific Beach. San Diego is the “capital of craft," and its craft beer pioneer, Karl Strauss Brewing Company, has relaunched its popular art, music and beer series (formerly B.A.M.) as Arts & Amps to feature live music and local art to compliment some of the finest brews in America's Finest City.

For the second Arts & Amps event, local soul/funk group Rebecca Jade & the Cold Fact will be performing al fresco at the biergarten-style tasting room. A collaborative project between vocalist Rebecca Jade and members of local bands The Heavy Guilt, Styletones and The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble (including Alfred Howard, Jason Littlefield and Sean Martin), the group will be fresh off a performance at the San Diego Oysterfest. Inspired by Otis Redding, Sharon Jones, Curtis Mayfield, Stax and Motown, Rebecca Jade & the Cold Fact is raw, classic and emotive, fueled by Rebecca’s searing vocals. The tasting room is the perfect space for them to perform, with plenty of room to dance.

In addition to music, the event will also feature photography of iconic San Diego spots by local artists, plus food trucks and of course, beer. Just for the evening, KARL will offer a line-up of rare brews that originated from its small-batch program, including tapping special releases from its experimental sour program. They will be showcasing their Barrel Aged Blackberry Wild Sour Ale named “Wild Ride,” which will be featured as both a standard pour, and on Nitro.

This event is part of Karl Strauss’ overall initiative to create community through freshly brewed beer and support local arts and culture. To make it all inclusive, this is a FREE event open to anyone 21 or older.

The first installment of the event was a success, with performances by local favorites Blackout Party and Low Volts, a video of which is embedded below for your viewing pleasure.
