Manhattan's of La Jolla owners William Wolf and Nancy O’Donnell have chosen downtown San Diego as the location for their second restaurant concept - New York West - which soft opened this past week inside the Embassy Suites Hotel at 601 Pacific Coast Highway (which also houses San Diego's only Dunkin' Donuts!).
New York West's Executive Chef Scott Breshears and Sous Chef Kelin Jones have designed an approachable menu of East Coast Italian staples that include hand-tossed pizzas, house-made pastas, stone-fired appetizers, succulent steaks and fresh-from-the-water seafood. Highlights from the menu include the lobster deviled eggs with butter Poached lobster, herb crust and red pepper aioli; the Corleone pizza with chopped Italian beef, alfredo sauce, caramelized onion, bell pepper and white American cheese; and the Italiano sandwich with shaved Italian beef, pepperoncini, pickled carrots, onion, mozzarella and garlic on a Tuscan roll.
New York West's modern art deco design meshes fine dining with upper end sports bar to cater to audiences of all ages. In addition to specialty cocktails and a lengthy wine list, New York West also features 20 rotating taps with a heavy selection of San Diego craft beers.
New York West is open from 11am to 12am daily. For more information, call (619) 819-7091 or visit nywsd.com.
