Zymology 21 Closes In The Gaslamp

March 28, 2016

After over a year and a half in the Gaslamp, science-themed Zymology 21 has announced that it will close for business.

Husband and wife owners, Alex and Chef Leyla Javadov, had an open restaurant space when they moved their downtown Café 21 concept up a block to the former Croce's location. That space at 750 5th Avenue that previously housed Café 21became Zymology 21, the third concept from the C21 Restaurant Group, known for its two award-winning Café 21 restaurants in University Heights and the Gaslamp Quarter. Serving all-day brunch, dinner and late night cocktails, Zymology 21 hoped to make waves with science-themed laboratory cocktails, house-fermented fruits and vegetables and creative menu offerings.

Alex and Chef Leyla Javadov first brought their worldly menu to University Heights in 2007 with the launch of Café 21  They expanded with a second location in the Gaslamp to accommodate a growing base of loyal diners.
