Danilo "DJ" Tangalin Takes Executive Chef Role At Paradise Point's Tidal

October 13, 2016

Danilo "DJ" Tangalin worked at local restaurant group Eat.Drink.Sleep for two years before splitting with the company in early September, almost immediately after launching Decoy Dockside Dining in Lakehouse Hotel & Resort at Lake San Marcos. He has now found a new home as Executive Chef of Tidal at Paradise Point Resort & Spa, taking over the position left open by the departure of Chef Amy DiBiase last month, who moved on to join Grand Restaurant Group (Bellamy's, Ponsaty's).

"I chose Tidal to be my new home because I truly believe that this place is the perfect fit for my style of food and service," commented Chef Tangalin. "I was very fortunate to have different options but in the end Tidal just felt right. I'm very excited to help drive this menu into a new frontier and build upon its already great foundation."

Chef Tangalin was the Executive Chef at Eat.Drink.Sleep's JRDN restaurant at Tower23 Hotel in Pacific Beach from Spring 2015 until he was appointed to oversee the launch of the company's ambitious Decoy restaurant at the newly renovated Lakehouse Hotel & Resort in San Marcos, which opened this past August 29 and is still without an Executive Chef. Chef Tangalin has spent time in some of the country's most esteemed kitchens including Le Bernardin with Eric Ripert, Volt with Bryan Voltaggio, Cyrus with Douglas Keane and Coi with Daniel Patterson. Settling in San Diego, DJ worked as chef de cuisine at Prepkitchen before joining the team at Eat.Drink.Sleep. as a sous chef at JRDN in 2014.

Chef Tangalin will be tasked with updating the menu at Tidal to reflect his own culinary style, while maintaining some of Chef Amy DiBiase's top dishes. A new menu will roll out in the coming months.

Tidal is located at 1404 Vacation Road at Paradise Point Resort & Spa in Mission Beach. For more information, visit paradisepoint.com/tidal-sd.php
