February 15, 2017

The Family Winemakers of California, an association of family-owned wineries from around the state, have announced that they will return to San Diego for their annual tasting event on Sunday, March 5. This year, the trade and consumer tasting festival returns to the Wyland Center at Del Mar Fairgrounds, offering tastings from more than 120 producers from California’s small, family-owned wineries who will be pouring upwards of 500 wines. We are raffling off 2 tickets to attend, as well as offering our readers the top savings on tickets in town - promo code SDVILLE for 20% off!

"Imagine the variety and choice in wine that’s available every year from California wineries,"said Pete Downs, acting president of the Family Winemakers of California. "Many of these award winning and acclaimed wines will be tasted for the first time in the San Diego area. This tasting is always a hit, but it’s also ideal to meet the owners and winemakers that craft this great wine. "

The 2017 San Diego Family Winemakers of California Tasting opens its doors on Sunday, March 5 at 12pm for members of the trade and discerning consumers who purchase an All-Access ticket for $95, which also includes admission to the VIP iSip Lounge. Consumer tickets are $75, which allows for unlimited samples and admission from 2-5pm. Promo code SDVILLE saves 20% on tickets when purchased online. Wines will also be available for purchase at the event.

"The passion-driven winemakers of these small production wines is what makes our tasting event really special. Wineries will feature many hard-to find wines, especially in the iSip Lounge where selected wines from library and barrel samples will be poured," added Downs. "Hear the family tradition behind the wines being poured and enjoy the beautiful setting of this new venue. We are excited to be here."

Family Winemakers of California was established in 1990 in response to a need for public policy involvement for the small wine producers of California. The association has become a strong force in the wine industry, lobbying for wine producer rights, and has an active membership of over 325 California wineries.
