Busalacchi's A Modo Mio Bids Farewell To San Diego's Hillcrest Neighborhood.

May 27, 2017

Longtime San Diego restaurant Busalacchi's A Modo Mio will close for business on Tuesday, May 31, ending a more than three decade run in Hillcrest for the family-based Busalacchi Restaurant group.

First started as Busalacchi's on Fifth in 1986 a few buildings south, the Hillcrest restaurant launched an empire for Joe Busalacchi and family, who now own numerous eateries in San Diego's Little Italy. Busalacchi's A Modo Mio opened at 3707 5th Avenue in 2011, serving a menu of traditional Italian fare. Busalacchi Restaurants is closing A Modo Mio to focus on their other restaurants. The company recently rebranded its Po Pazzo restaurant into Sicilian-style eatery Barbusa and are currently renovating Trattoria Fantastica and Cafe Zucchero, which should both reopen this summer.

There is no word yet on who will be taking over the 4,500 square-foot space, but we'll be sure to let it be known when we learn more. The Busalacchi's released the below statement on social media about the closure of A Modo Mio.
