Huntington Beach's Ways & Means Oyster House To Open Within Former Alfonso's Space In La Jolla

July 16, 2017

On the heels of announcing its upcoming grand opening in Portland, Oregon, Huntington Beach-based Ways & Means Oyster House - which is currently in the process of an expansion that includes locations in Asia, Africa and the Middle East - has taken over the space left dormant by longtime occupant Alfonso's of La Jolla for an anticipated Spring 2018 opening of the New England-style seafood restaurant.

"Our focus is to be more than just a restaurant to our guests - we aspire to be a part of their lifestyle," said VP of Operations Dan Schneider. "Ways & Means celebrates community and quality seafood and we are very excited to introduce this concept to La Jolla."

The La Jolla Ways & Means location will mimic the design and menu offerings of the flagship Huntington Beach branch, which first opened in January 2016. Expect food offerings to include all sorts of fresh oyster dishes, including the restaurant's brand from White Stone Farm in Virginia, as well as seafood samplers, seafood tacos, lobster rolls, and a variety of small plates and seafood entrees. Signature dishes include the Ways & Means Oysters, served simply with a signature champagne mignonette and lemon to enhance the ocean-fresh flavors; Jerk Seared Salmon Bowl, made with Atlantic salmon, jerk glaze, coconut rice and papaya salsa; and a nationally-recognized Top-10 Lobster Roll, stuffed with Maine lobster, mango coleslaw, served with aioli on a brioche bun. Behind the bar, there will be a curated wine list, including private label offerings, plenty of craft beer taps, and the restaurant's own 24 year-aged rum. Expect daily specials like Maine Mondays with $9.99 lobster, Wine Wednesdays with 1/2 off bottles, Tiki Thursdays with tiki drinks and scallop specials and Sunday brunch.

Ways & Means Oyster House will be located at 1251 Prospect Street in San Diego's La Jolla neighborhood. For more information, visit wmoysters.com and check out the menus below.
