Downtown San Diego's Florent Restaurant & Lounge Appoints Chef Abe Botello As Executive Chef

August 27, 2017

San Diego Gaslamp hotspot Florent Restaurant & Lounge has appointed Abe Botello as Operational Executive Chef.

Chef Botello brings over 10 years of culinary talent to Florent’s kitchen, which was previously in the hands of Chef Brad Hightow - who is now Executive Chef at Urge Gastropub & Common House in San Marcos. The San Diego native’s passion for his craft and skilled expertise will be used to direct day-to-day culinary operations and refine Florent’s menu with innovative recipes and seasonal ingredients.

"Born and raised in San Diego, I look forward to collaborating with Florent to create unprecedented tastes that embody the city," said Chef Botello. "My focus is on uniquely tailoring bold flavors from local artisan purveyors to create an approachable menu of Coastal-Americana cuisine that both visitors and locals will keep coming back for."

Growing up in America's Finest City, Chef Botello developed a childhood appreciation for the city's hospitality industry at his family’s Mexican restaurant, Los Pinos in Imperial Beach. Botello previously served at the helm of several of San Diego kitchens including those of Urban Solace, Solace & The Moonlight Lounge and most recently, West Coast Tavern.

Florent Restaurant & Lounge located in San Diego’s Gaslamp District at 672 5th Avenue in the heart of downtown. For more information, visit florentsd.com.
