Earlier this year, we broke the news that Golden Road Brewing Co-Founder Tony Yanow, who has been on a bar buying spree in Los Angeles this year, was taking over the space last occupied by The Beer Company at 602 Broadway in downtown San Diego for a new brewpub. We have received word from Yanow's Artisanal Brewers Collective that the name of the new concept going into the prime downtown corner location is The Bell Marker, and it will be a modern American brasserie with an onsite brewery headed by Noah Regnery, a UCSD-graduate that previously worked as a lead brewer for Pizza Port Brewing.
Named for the mission bell markers found along historic El Camino Real, which start in Sonoma and end in San Diego, The Bell Marker will be a refined American brasserie with a menu from Chef Trevor Faris - the longtime culinary lead for Yanow's projects. In addition to house-brewed beer, guests will be able to enjoy a carefully curated list of craft beer, as well as wine and liquor selections. The casual-yet-refined menu will feature pizza as a mainstay along with various shareable dishes and larger entrees, including plenty of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options - similar to Yanow's Mohawk Bend restaurant in Los Angeles. The Bell Marker will offer approximately 200 seats.
