Pacific Beach's Cafe 976 Becomes Third Brick & Bell Location

August 25, 2017

After shuttering for a short stint last summer before reopening with minor improvements, longtime Pacific Beach coffeehouse Cafe 976 has been sold, closed and converted into the third location of Brick & Bell Cafe.

Peter Schumacher opened the original Brick & Bell Cafe in a 100-year old brick building in the heart of La Jolla Village in 2003 and unveiled his second location in La Jolla Shores in 2015. Last week, Schumacher finally took over the more than 20-year-old Cafe 976, and after closing it for a brief remodel, opened his third outpost in the charming standalone building.

Located in a 1920s-era cottage on the corner of Cass & Felspar in Pacific Beach, the new Brick & Bell kept much of the space intact. Numerous indoor seating areas offer cozy nooks for reading and working. There is an ample patio and deck seating, as well as seating in the lush outdoor gardens. Like other locations, Pacific Beach's Brick & Bell will serve a menu of house-roasted coffee, croissants, cookies, cinnamon rolls, breakfast bowls, bagels, scrambled eggs, sandwiches, smoothies, protein shakes, and an array of the company's popular scones, which they are known to sell up to 1,000 per day and more than 100,000 every year.

Brick & Bell Cafe is located at 976 Felspar Street in San Diego's Pacific Beach neighborhood and is open from 6am to 5:30pm. For more information, follow Brick & Bell Cafe on Facebook and check out the menu below.
