San Diego Based Luxury Cinema Concept The Lot To Expand Into Poway, Del Mar & Beyond

October 20, 2017

San Diego-based The Lot brand of luxury cinemas will soon expand northwards to Del Mar, Poway and beyond.

Founded in La Jolla in 2015, The Lot is a luxury cinema concept with a full-service, in-house restaurant, cafe, and bar. The company expanded into Liberty Station in 2016 and will open its third outpost at 2707 Via De La Valle with an anticipated Spring 2019 debut. The 29,000 square-foot Del Mar cinematic and dining destination will offer eight upscale theaters with to-your-seat service. The company is also in the process of opening locations in the Fashion Island lifestyle center in Newport Beach and in San Francisco in 2018. The Lot will also expand to San Diego's Poway area with an outpost in the incoming The Watermark development with a slated 2020 opening. Newly-appointed corporate chef Matt Richman is currently in the process of updating the menus at area branches.

From the minds of part of the creative team that developed Cinépolis luxury movie theaters, The Lot features new releases, box-office hits, independent films, and features a place to watch annual television features like the Super Bowl and The Oscars. La Jolla resident and The Lot owner Adolfo Fastlicht has more than two decades worth of experience in the upscale cinema industry. In addition to being a longtime partner in Cinépolis, Fastlicht also launched the Cinemex chain of luxury theaters in Mexico, which was sold off in 2002. With his partner, Carlos Wellman, the pair started Backlot Hospitality to launch The Lot in San Diego.
