A staple in San Diego's South Park community since 1993, Rebecca's Coffee House will close this week after a battle with their landlord has forced them to vacate the property.
After 25 years on the corner of Juniper and Fern Streets in South Park, Rebecca's Coffeehouse was essentially ousted from its space after the landlord's son took over management of the building and raised the rent, allegedly more than a 100% increase. Owner Rebecca Zearing went to court in an attempt to keep her business going within the 1920’s-era building. She also launched a GoFundMe campaign in hopes of saving the longtime coffeehouse.
After putting the 2,800 square-foot space at 3015 Juniper Street in South Park on the market and receiving more than a dozen offers, a new, unnamed tenant has taken over the lease and will be moving in at the start of 2018.
