Nishiki Ramen To Bring Second Area Location To The Hub Hillcrest Market Plaza

February 16, 2018

Nishiki Ramen will bring its tried-and-true ramen recipes to San Diego's Hillcrest neighborhood. Opening its second area restaurant just three years after choosing San Diego for its first stateside location, the Japanese izakaya will enter The Hub Hillcrest Market plaza this Spring.

Boasting over two decades in business and multiple locations in Japan, Nishiki Ramen opened its first U.S. location in Fall 2015 in San Diego's Kearny Mesa neighborhood and quickly had hungry diners lining up for its authentic ramen recipes. Nishiki offers a menu of ramen noodle soups using high quality ingredients, including house-made and cut noodles using organic wheat flour, MSG-free broths, vegetarian options and even Berkshire pork chashu. The restaurant also serves sushi and typical ramen house fare, like fried chicken karaage, bao buns, rice bowls, salads and more.

Owner Mike Furuichi’s popular and authentic ramen will be served at his second location as early as late Spring. The 2,100-square-foot interior will seat up to 70 and, in keeping with tradition, has dedicated space to its on-site noodle room, which houses a custom machine that produces two thicknesses of noodles using organic whole wheat flour.

Also joining Nishiki this Spring in The Hub is the first U.S. eatery for Italian restaurateurs who will launch their chef-driven concept Maestoso in partnership with the team behind San Diego's NaPizza chain of Roman-style pizzerias. Locally owned Poke Subarashi will also open its second San Diego location within the retail market center, offering a menu centered around marinated raw fish.
