Babycakes Bar & Bakery To Relocate From Hillcrest To Paradise Hills

April 30, 2018

After 10 years serving the Hillcrest community, Babycakes has plans for expansion that will result in a relocation of its main operations to the space currently occupied by Bread Basket Bakery in the Paradise Hills neighborhood of San Diego. The popular bakery and bar has outgrown its kitchen building at 3766 5th Avenue in Hillcrest and will move this June.

The new BabyCakes Bakery will be quadruple in size, offer ample parking and will be conveniently located to freeway access where the 805 & 54 freeways meet. While maintaining the popular Imperial Beach location by the pier and adding a storefront to the new bakery, Babycakes plans to join the age of convenience and increase delivery options and implement shipping of their baked goods. Additionally, future plans include a storefront in North County, East County and hope to return home one day to the company's very supportive community of Hillcrest.

"As we move forward, our business model needs to evolve in order to keep pace with the rapidly changing industry," explained Babycakes President and Founder Christopher Stavros. "While there are many fabulous restaurants, bars and coffee houses, we plan on focusing on one area that we excel a...our award-winning cupcakes and memorable celebrations cakes."

The Hillcrest location of Babycakes is sited in a charming 1889 craftsman home in the heart of Hillcrest. In addition to being a successful bakery, the location also acted as a popular bar, especially on Sunday's for the company's weekly "Church" parties. The Hillcrest location will remain open until the end of May, with the new outpost at 2315 Reo Drive in Paradise Hills opening sometime in June. With the expanded space, the brand hopes to pursue arrangements to get its baked goods into area restaurants and grocery stores.
