Las Vegas-Based The Modern Vegan To Open San Diego Location

April 30, 2018

Opening in San Diego's North Park community is a second outpost of Las Vegas-based The Modern Vegan, a plant-based bar & restaurant with an extensive comfort-food menu of over 130 items.

"The concept for The Modern Vegan will be the same as our first location in Las Vegas," said The Modern Vegan founder Gia Schultz. "Basically, it is a restaurant where you can indulge in the vegan food of your dreams. Created for vegans and non-vegans alike, we want to break all stereotypes where veganism is concerned and prove that vegans eat bomb food! There is a lot more to our diet than people think. Anything can be veganized. We have a very extensive menu with over 130 items and specialize in gourmet American comfort food - all cruelty free!"

Heading into the 3,200 square-foot storefront at 4332 30th Street, Unit 3, in North Park, The Modern Vegan will offer a clean and modern interior with white tables and chairs, black accents, chain curtains, grass on the walls and bar, cool art installations, and distressed concrete floors. Embracing the beautiful San Diego weather, the space will offer seating on two patios and windows that open up to the outside.

The monstrous menu will offer a large array of appetizers, breakfast and lunch favorites, skillets, waffles, sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads and desserts - all 100% plant based. Highlights include the Chick’n and Waffles, Mac n Cheese Baseballs, Louisiana Fried Chick’n, Biscuits and Gravy, Steak n V’Eggs, Philly Cheesesteak, V’Eggs Benedict, Ruben, and the deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich. There will also be over 50 gluten-free options that are marked on the menu. In addition to a full bar with cocktails, beer, wine and kombucha, the restaurant will also serve a lineup of smoothies, wellness shots, milkshakes, juices and sodas.

"My husband and I are doing this because we want to change the way the world looks at food!" continued Schultz. "A vegan diet is better for your health, our environment and of course, the animals! When I went vegan, it was hard because there was almost nowhere to go eat. Now the vegan scene is booming and we couldn’t be more thrilled! I think vegans get a bad rep...everyone has a story about an 'annoying vegan.' I am 'The Modern Vegan' and there’s a ton of us out there! It’s all about positivity and good vibes and that starts with being compassionate and mindful about what you eat!"

The Modern Vegan aims to unveil by Fall 2018. After the opening of the San Diego location, ownership plans on franchising the concept, hoping to open in Miami next. For more information, visit tmvlasvegas.com and check out the menu below.
