Local Lightsaber Combat Trainees Bring Tournament To Craft Brewery To Celebrate Star Wars Day

April 20, 2018

InterGalactiCon and San Diego Sabers will celebrate May 4 - considered by Star Wars fans as a holiday-of-sorts dubbed "May The Fourth Be With You" and Star Wars Day - by hosting a lightsaber tournament at Intergalactic Brewery.

On Friday, May 4, in honor of the annual celebration of Star Wars Day, Intergalactic Brewery will transform their parking lot into a lightsaber dueling arena with an onsite taco food truck, Star Wars art gallery, and an unveiling of the brewery's Triple IPA That's No Moon and a few other Star Wars brews. The annual "May The Fourth Be With You" event is hosted by San Diego’s newest comic convention InterGalactiCon and premier lightsaber combat group San Diego Sabers - both founded by Steve "Captain" Kirk.
For months, the San Diego Sabers have been training in local parking lots and parks for their opportunity to advance in rank and take home the trophy. Now, in anticipation of InterGalactiCon, a new San Diego convention launching this summer, the group will show off their martial arts chops and allegiance to the Rebel Alliance. Tournament participants and winners will reconvene this summer at InterGalactiCon to compete against other combat groups across the nation for what's expected to be the largest lightsaber tournament in Southern California.

The Star Wars Day celebration will take place from 7-9pm at Intergalactic Brewing, located at 9715 Carroll Centre Rd #107, near the Lake Miramar area of San Diego. For more information, visit intergalacticbrew.com.
