Chula Vista's Temp Restaurant Announces Impending Closure

June 18, 2018

It was always meant to be temporary. Originally dubbed "TEMP° by Cosecha", Temp Restaurant first opened last Summer as a semi-permanent location for Chef Steve Brown's pop-up brunches and dinners, but the eatery announced today that it will close for business at the end of the week.

You know the old saying, "Man plans, and God laughs,"well that seems to be the case with Chef Steve Brown and team. In mid-2016, the ambitious pop-up dining chef returned to San Diego from Los Angeles and immediately started announcing ambitious projects that have yet to come to fruition - from a shipping container restaurant in his hometown of Imperial Beach to a brewpub in Barrio Logan. The one eatery that actually did open as expected was Temp° by Cosecha in Chula Vista, but it was not long after that Chef Brown was seemingly disassociated from the modern bistro and the name was condensed to Temp Restaurant.

We are sad to announce that this week will be our last week in business. We’re so grateful for all of the memories we’ve created, and friendships we’ve forged. We’re proud of the experiences we’ve contributed to, the meals we’ve served, the service we’ve offered, and the community we’ve been so welcomed into. We’ll still be seeing you all around Third Avenue. We’re just regular people who love it here. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to deliver food to the amazing bars and breweries on our block anymore, and for that, we are deeply sorry. That does not mean that @barsinnombre @thegentlepenguin @cvbrewery or @thr3epunkales_brewing are any less fantastic, so please keep showing them love. As for our schedule, we’ll be open our normal hours this week: Dinner Service Tuesday - Saturday 5-10 Brunch Service Saturday - Sunday 10-2 Our final dinner service will be this Saturday, 6/23/18 Our final brunch service will be this Sunday, 6/24/18 We will be offering some special discounts and promotions throughout the week on food and wine. Please come see us, as our guests have always been our favorite part of this work, and we’re going to miss serving you very much. And one last time, THANK YOU, Chula Vista. It’s been a pleasure.

Well, it's been less than a year since Temp first opened its doors. Chef Brown has been unassociated with the concept since the beginning of the year and is now off touring various cities with his Japanese Wagyu beef-focused popup dinners under his Cosecha brand. There is still no Shipping Yard and no Bar Logan. There is no word about whether the Vogue Theatre project is still moving forward, and Temp will be closing after brunch service this Sunday, June 24. We reached out to Temp's operations manager Mikey Knabb for comment on the closure and were told to refer to the above Instagram post.
