Modern & Organic Mexican Restaurant Tocaya Organica To Open First San Diego Location On June 28

Opening next week in the Gaslamp Quarter is the first of two San Diego locations of Tocaya Organica - a health-focused, organic Mexican restaurant and bar that currently has six outposts in Los Angeles since launchng in 2013.

From LA-based The Madera Group hospitality company, Tocaya Organica, will be making its debut in the San Diego Gaslamp Quarter on Thursday, June 28. Born out of a mission for better eating, Tocaya Organica offers a modern take on Mexican cuisine,  using all organic, locally-sourced ingredients. Its chef-driven menu offers a unique vegan-first approach to its salads, tacos, bowls and burritos, while giving non-vegans the ability to opt in with their choice of grass-fed meat, free-range chicken and fresh fish. Expect popular dishes including the Fajita del Rey Bowl, the Tocaya Salad, Barrio Style Tacos and the restaurant’s signature dessert, the Churro Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich. Tocaya’s daily house-made Aguas Frescas will also be offered alongside a selection of margaritas, wine and cervezas.

Located in the heart of San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, the 6,000-square-foot, two-story space - which previously housed Cake Nightclub - will invoke the restaurant's signature design, featuring wood, stone and natural fabrics with pops of vibrant color. Expect an open kitchen, indoor and outdoor patio seating as well as a separate mezzanine area serving as a lounge space. For the first time, a 40-foot living wall blooming with succulents will be featured as the restaurant's centerpiece. Tocaya Organica San Diego will also incorporate the Gaslamp building’s historic brick into the design using the restaurant’s grayscale color tones.

Tocaya Organica San Diego at Gaslamp is located at 751 5th Avenue and will be open daily for lunch and dinner from 11:30am to 10:30pm. Tocaya is set to have 14 stores by the end of this year and will also be opening additional San Diego branches in North County’s One Paseo in 2019 and at Westfield UTC.
